Analyzing eTraffic

Our client, a pioneer in website marketing effectiveness and search engine marketing consultancy in Australasia, created a unique website marketing methodology that will ensures the quality exposures on search engines for companies looking for distinct web identity, successful marketing campaigns, affiliation programs etc. Considering the technology limitations locally and associated higher costs, NuNet has been awarded the project for developing an application that will support their business objectives in terms of measuring the web tracking, search engine optimisation, recording of web traffic as to where it is originating from and more importantly what it is doing when it gets to a web site. The HTML plug-in will effectively address in web traffic analysis.

Complexities
Merge the two different sites with two separate content management interfaces into one eCommerce site incorporating the best features from both and seamless integration of e-Catalogue system incorporated with its corporate ERP system for stock management, are some of the challenges posed to NuNet.

Solution Provided

Developed in open source platforms using PHP/JSP with MySQL compatible to both Windows and Linux operating systems, the measurement and reporting tool has ensured the following features:

Track referring site - It will enable the marketers to measure the conversion rate of specific site actions based on what URL the visitor originated from.

Track users - It will distinguish between new and return traffic by using cookies and will track activity based on how the site was discovered.

Supports P3 privacy policy (IE6) - It is ensured as the default security settings of IE6 do not allow third-party cookies.

Recording of specific site actions -The system will record specific site actions and the userID carrying out that action based on simple JavaScript entered into a page on the client's site.

Produce reports - The application generates a variety of reports such as referred traffic, search phrase, entry pages and specific action based reports and these reports are generated for a selected date range and could either include / exclude no cookie data.

Smart search phrase extraction - The system has the ability to extract search phrases from any referring URLs even if its domain and structure have not been specified explicitly.

Domain grouping - It groups the popular search engine domains into groups as required and as specified by the Admin for which Admin login interface has been provided.


The end product has enhanced the measurability of the effectiveness of website marketing campaigns in real business terms and has been assisting our client to implement highly successful marketing campaigns in Australasia.
