A world leader in diagnostic test instruments and supplying specialized testing equipment and engineering services to the electric power industry since 1920, has outsourced to NuNet the product development of its F-Series of 'Power System Simulators'. These products provide new levels of analytical capability for testing and calibrating any protective relays and generate sine waves of voltage and current whose values are digitally controlled.
NuNet's product development in relay testing equipment helps the users to combine the portability of universal relay test sets with the transient testing capabilities of modern power system simulators at a price comparable to the price of conventional test sets. The automated relay testing software enhances the productivity by automatically recording, plotting and storing the data, thus eliminating the operator errors.
Complexities
Building as a powerful tool with complex database design, mathematical intensive characteristic equations parsing with generation of the graphs, using the characteristic and multi-equations for curve smoothing and zone constructions for impedance functions are some of the complexities of the project.
The project incorporated advanced Microsoft technologies with Crystal Reports, Far Point and National Instruments Graph Controls. It combines automatic control of test instruments with the functions of a client server database. Designed to meet the needs for improved productivity and quality in preventive maintenance, the end product built was both a relay test tool and a database to document relay settings, test methods, and test history.
